Description: Eisenhower Park, San Antonio's second Natural Area, offers a different terrain and experience from Friedrich Wilderness Park. It has an additional 5 miles of hiking, jogging, and nature study. Special markers, designating examples of Texas Hill Country vegetation, have been added along portions of selected trails. A marker guide is available at the trailhead near the public rest rooms. This 320-acre park contains excellent examples of Texas Hill Country landscapes, including wooded dry creek beds and rocky canyons. Pets are allowed on leash, but please be prepared to remove any droppings your pet may leave. Barbecue and picnic facilities are available.

How can remaining unspoiled natural areas with their living plants and animals be preserved and protected and how can such areas be made available for the enjoyment of people? These must have been thoughts that stirred Mrs. Norma Friedrich Ward, who in memory of her parents, bequeathed 180 acres of virgin Texas Hill Country property now known as EMILIE AND ALBERT FRIEDRICH PARK for public use. Mr. W.L. Mathews and Associates contributed an additional 52 adjacent acres to compliment Mrs. Ward's bequest.

Description: The South Shore Unit is a day-use only park (6 a.m.-10 p.m.) and offers boating, fishing, picnicking, wildlife viewing and birding. The Calliham Unit offers camping, picnicking, boating, hiking, wildlife viewing, birding, fishing, lake beach and softball and volleyball areas. Seasonal guided bird walks are conducted on scheduled days. Day use equestrian is allowed in the North Shore Equestrian Area on Saturday's and Sunday's.

Description: Hundreds of thousands of visitors flock here each year to enjoy its matchless vacation facilities. They swim in the clear waters of the Frio River, scoot its rapids on inner tubes, rent pedal boats, and hike its fascinating nature trails. On long summer evenings, young folks (and the young at heart) meet at the concession building for jukebox dancing every night during the summer season. Nearby is a miniature golf course, which is lighted for nighttime playing. Meals and snacks are served in the concession building, though many families prefer to take advantage of the many camping sites and do their own cooking. A limited number of cabins are available for rent. The park offers camping, hiking, nature study, picnicking, canoeing, fishing, swimming in the Frio River (unsupervised), seasonal miniature golf, paddle boat and kayak rentals (mid-March through Labor Day weekend), bike riding (surfaced).

Description: The park has 4 miles of river frontage and is located in the middle of a 9-mile stretch of the Guadalupe River. Park visitors may enjoy a variety of outdoor activities including canoeing, fishing, swimming, tubing, picnicking, hiking, and camping. The park recently opened a 5.3 miles equestrian trail that is also open to mountain biking. No equestrian camping is available at the park. Opportunities also exist for less vigorous but more serene pursuits, such as bird watching and nature study.

Description: The park offers picnic sites, camping, hiking, mountain biking, bird watching, and evening bat flight viewing during the season. Primitive tours of Kickapoo Cavern are scheduled every Saturday and require reservations. This guided wild cave tour requires fair hiking ability, bringing two light sources per person, sturdy hiking or walking shoes, and signing a liability release for all participants. Some age restrictions may apply. Unauthorized entry into the caves at the park is prohibited. Potential visitors can contact the park or check the Events listing for additional dates and events. Specialized group tours and events may be arranged by contacting the park.

Description: A well-known camping & swimming site located in the beautiful Hill Country of Texas. It is located in Spicewood, Texas approximately 30 miles west of Austin. The 115 acre property is listed on the National Registry of Historical Sites and has been privately owned by the Krause Family for over 50 years.Krause Springs has many natural sites to explore. There are 32 springs on the property, and several feed the manmade pool and the natural pool which flows into Lake Travis. It's a refreshing treat to swim in the Springs during the hot summers of Texas! If camping is in your plans, there is primitive tent camping as well as 24 RV sites with water and electricity available. Guests are also welcome to relax and to stroll through the Butterfly Gardens; take time to listen to the music of the wind chimes and the fountains during your visit!
