The Red Cross at Fort Sam Houston offers many services including being able to contact a service member who has been deployed anywhere in the world regarding a family crisis. The service member can be granted a humanitarian reassignment closer to home or a hardship discharge depending on the circumstances. Emergency financial assistance can also be provided for those who have to travel on short notice. The American Red Cross also offers many safety courses such as CPR.
